Georgia and Germany have a long political and diplomatic relationship, typically emerging with their friendship. The announcement of independence, which resulted in establishing the first Republic of Georgia on 26 May 2018, was an outcome of exclusively German political efforts. Similarly, Germany was one of the first countries that welcomed the reborn Republic of Georgia after the Soviet Union collapsed at the start of the 1990s.

Rangers FC marked its 150th anniversary in style by performing a match between Rangers Legends and Luis Figo's World Stars. They are the first major European club to reach its 150th anniversary.

The star-studded clash started at 3 pm GMT on 26 March 2022 and was not aired on TV. For obvious reasons, tickets were in high demand, being sold to season ticket holders, priced at £22 for adults, £13 for concessions, and only £5 for juniors.

Dr Madeleine Korbel Albright, 84, the first female US Secretary of State (1997-2001), died from cancer in Washington, DC. She was born on 15 May 1937 as Marie Jana Korbelova in Prague, Czechoslovakia. The German occupation of her native country by Adolf Hitler's troops forced the family of five, consisting of her parents and two younger siblings, Katherine and John, into exile. They moved to Britain in May 1939. In their London house, they used a large metal table to shelter themselves from the German air raids during the Blitz.

Institute of American Studies at Tbilisi State University announces the 23rd International Annual Conference on American Studies. This year it will be dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and the United States of America.
