Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Sussex, Douglas Forbes Brewer, aged 93, passed away peacefully at home on 16 July 2018. He was a devoted husband and father, a respected colleague, and a cherished friend who will be deeply missed by many.

Half of the founding members of the BRAMS Institute had the privilege of knowing Professor Brewer personally. They worked alongside him and engaged in delightful conversations on a variety of subjects beyond just science, as he was an intellectually stimulating individual.

The BRAMS Institute invites submissions for its academic journal, BRAMS. The submission deadline is 15 November 2019.

BRAMS is an international, refereed, and peer-reviewed journal that welcomes scholarly articles from a diverse array of academic disciplines, including the humanities, social sciences, formal sciences, and applied sciences. Contributions should broadly encompass British, American, and Georgian (Kartvelian) Studies.

On 14 July 2018, Professor Maia Nadare, Founder and CEO of a new think tank, officially named her organisation the BRAMS Institute.

The 4th of July is the most significant national holiday in the United States, celebrating the Declaration of Independence, adopted in 1776.

NASA astronauts Jack Fischer and Peggy Whitson celebrated the Fourth of July from over 250 miles above Earth aboard the International Space Station. Fischer shared a photo on social media and said, “We sometimes have issues standing up straight, but we have no problems at all showing our American pride – Happy 4th!”

The BRAMS Institute congratulates the people of the United States on Independence Day!

Professor Maia Nadare will present the newly established Institute for American and British Studies at Grigol Robakidze University. This event is scheduled for next Saturday to commemorate the second anniversary of the United Kingdom's membership referendum in the European Union.
