Battle of Didgori 900

Today marks the 900 anniversary of the Battle of Didgori in 1121.

Both Georgian and Islamic sources testify that on the complaints of the Muslim merchants of Tbilisi, Ganja, and Dmanisi, Sultan Mahmud II of Baghdad (r. 1118–1131) sent a punitive military expedition against Georgia under the command of Ilghazi ibn Artuq of Mardin.

Agile Spirit 2021

Soldiers from fifteen NATO allies and partners stood shoulder to shoulder with Georgian and American soldiers at the Concluding Ceremony.

Agile Spirit 2021 is a joint multinational exercise hosted by Georgian Defense Forces for the last ten years. The joint training occurred from 26 July through 6 August, promoting the concept of "Strength through Partnership".

Independence Day

26 May has been one of the most important dates in the history of Georgia since 1918.

It marks the foundation of the first Democratic Republic of Georgia, which was annexed by the Russian Red Army in 1921. Despite the shot-lived independence and the attempts of the Soviet government that ruled the country for the next 70 years, to hunt down and erase anything Georgian and patriotic, the memory of 26 May never faded in the hearts of the local people and part of them kept celebrating the day secretly until better times.
