DigitalOcean announces the eighth annual Hacktoberfest, a month-long celebration of the open-source community.
The organisers promise to provide a gr-eight-er than ever string of events for open-source software enthusiasts, beginners, and the developer community. Anyone around the world who wants to take part in Hacktoberfest is invited to join by contributing to open-source projects.
In the 2021 edition of Hacktoberfest, DigitalOcean is going to offer new initiatives to further the users' commitment to the open-source community. To qualify for a free, limited-edition Hacktoberfest t-shirt, a participant is supposed to do one of the following:
- Prepare and share their project for collaboration
- Contribute to the betterment of a project via pull requests
- Organise an event
- Mentor others
- Donate directly to open-source projects
Upcoming featured events, hosted by DigitalOcean, this year include:
- 01 October – Official Hacktoberfest Kickoff #1, Americas Region
- 04 October – Hacktoberfest 2021 Official Kickoff #2, Asia Pacific Region
- 06 October – Hacktoberfest 2021 Official Kickoff #2, Europe, Middle East, and Africa Region
