Mamuka Areshidze is a prominent journalist, news anchor, Georgian politician, and professor at Caucasus University, who residing in Tbilisi, Georgia.
Born on 27 November 1957 in Tbilisi, he completed his education at Tbilisi Public School No. 51 in 1973. The following year, he began his professional career at Tbilisi Emergency Hospital No. 2. From 1975 to 1981, he pursued a degree in Drama Directing at the Shota Rustaveli State Theatre Institute, where he was guided by Mikheil Tumanishvili. Between 1981 and 1995, he hosted and directed the programme "Good Evening" and also led the television show "Let’s Remember Georgia."
From 1995 to 1999, Mr Areshidze represented the electoral bloc “Citizens’ Union of Georgia” in the 4th convocation of the Parliament of Georgia. He taught TV directing and the television business at the State University of Theatre and Cinema from 1995 to 2007. In 2004, he became the director of the non-governmental organisation "Caucasian Centre for Strategic Studies." In 2007, he joined Caucasus University as a professor. Since 2009, he has authored and hosted the programme "Caucasian Palette" on Radio "Palitra."
In recognition of his contributions to journalism, he received the Georgian State Prize for Excellence in Journalism in 1992 and the prestigious Order of Vakhtang Gorgasali, II degree, in 1995. He earned a Certificate of Recognition from the International Organisation of the Red Cross in 2001 and was honoured with the esteemed "Golden Pen" by the International Society of Journalists in 2005.
