Legal English Business Law online course
The online training course in Legal English Business Law by the SHAN Group will be conducted over two weekends. The course will be led by Nana Ghonghadze, a lawyer, law lecturer and TOLES legal English trainer.
Ms. Ghonghadze has an LLM in Democratic Governance and Rule of Law from Ohio Northern University – Pettit College of Law, and an MBA in International Law from the Georgia Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA). She is certified in advanced legal research by LexisNexis, Bloomberg Law, and Thomson Reuters Westlaw. She has diverse work experience in private, state, and civil society organisations.
The participants of the course are required to have a B2 level of English.
The course is divided into five theoretical parts, each consisting of four subsections covering the following topics:
1. Negotiation Techniques
- Preparation for negotiation
- Negotiation simulation in 'breakout rooms'
- Useful phrases for negotiation
2. Contract Law in Common Law Countries
- Comparison and separation of common law and continental law
- Elements of the contract
- Breach of contract and its legal consequences
3. Traditional and Online Contracts
- Comparison between traditional and online contracts
- Contract types and basic conditions
- "Checklist" for drawing up the contract
4. Business Organizations:
- Business forms and registration requirements in America and Britain
- Comparison of existing forms in Georgia
- Tax regimes - Meetings in the company (general meeting and board meeting) and decision-making procedure
5. Banking and Financial Law
- Bank forms and related terminology
- Secured and unsecured loans
- Securities
The course offers both theoretical knowledge and practical exercises. After completing the course, you will need to write a final quiz. Upon completion, you will receive a bilingual certificate, an electronic dictionary used in the course, manual material, presentation files, handouts, and links.
The cost of the training is 300 Georgian Lari. If two or more employees from the same organization attend the training, they will receive a 20% discount.
Online registration is required to receive an invoice and book a place on the course. As places in the group are limited, they are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
