Today marks the 110th anniversary of Ronald Reagan's birth.
"Ronald Reagan was one of the greatest presidents our nation has ever had and left an iconic legacy that continues to inspire. I’m pleased to proclaim today, Feb. 6, as Ronald Reagan Day in Florida in honor of The Gipper", Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said on Twitter. “The Gipper" refers to one of Reagan's political slogans “win one for The Gipper,” which was based on the former Hollywood actor's role as George Gipp in the movie “Knute Rockne, All American” (1940).
This year, the following 25 governors proclaimed 6 February as “Ronald Reagan Day” in their states: Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey (R), Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy (R), Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey (R), Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson (R), California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R), Idaho Gov. Brad Little (R), Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb (R), Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R), Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R), Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker (R), Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves (R), Missouri Gov. Mike Parson (R), Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts (R), New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R), New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D), North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R), Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R), Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt (R), South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (R), Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R), Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R), Utah Gov. Spencer Cox (R), West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice (R).
Let us honour and celebrate the day by recalling a well-lived life through photographs that tell an interesting story of the 40th President of the United States who went far from the Hollywood Walk of Fame to the Oval Office in the White House.
