Publicly neutral on political matters, the Queen sends her Christmas message 2018.
Some might see much more in her words than the Queen meant to say, or her advisers would suggest. The fact is, she never mentioned the word “Brexit” and underlined Christmas spirit by wishing “peace on earth and goodwill to all”.
Brexit or no Brexit, deal or no deal, the most important political aspect of the monarchy is the sovereign's lifelong dedication to the unity of the country. Just like her outstanding late mother, Queen Elizabeth II does her best to serve the Kingdom and her people. Therefore, "to all" is the keyword in her Christmas message.
Wearing an Angela Kelly ivory silk cocktail dress with the gold scarab brooch gifted by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1966, the Queen beamed peace and stability with her royal appearance. Every word she said in her quiet and gentle tone improved the impression. Indeed, Christmas night is supposed to be 'holy and silent'. If the public has found some comfort behind the Queen's speech, that was the supreme goal she obviously aimed to achieve.
Elizabeth II sat beside a framed black-and-white photo of herself, Prince Philip and a baby Prince Charles taken back in 1949.
Next photo showed the prospect of a once young family in the following 70 years: Prince Charles with Camilla, Prince William with Kate, Prince Harry with Meghan, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Each detail emphasised the importance of family values, love and devotion to duty in any person's life, either monarch or commoner.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!
AND A VERY HAPPY UPCOMING NEW YEAR!
