Obituary: Alexander Elerdashvili

Professor Alexander Elerdashvili, 65, passed away in Tbilisi, Georgia.

A prolific Georgian scholar, brilliant translator, and poet, Alexander Elerdashvili was a professor of Persian Studies at Tbilisi State University. He compiled and published "The Universal Encyclopaedic Dictionary" (2009) in three volumes, Persian-Georgian Dictionary, Persian Chrestomathy (2017), and Poetic Translation Anthology (2017). In 1996, he became the editor-in-chief of The Fantasy newspaper and the editor of the newspaper's publishing house. Professor Elerdashvili was a member of the Writers' Union of Georgia, and the head of the Translation Association. He received Ivane Machabli Award, and Zezva Medulashvili Award.
