Happy Safer Inet Day!

Safer Internet Day is celebrated annually in February. The special day has been established to promote "the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people". There are thousands of centres globally that patronise the event, coordinated by the joint Insafe/INHOPE network, with the support of the European Commission, and national Safer Internet Centres across Europe.

More than 100 SID Committees work closely with the Safer Internet Day Coordination Team, which is based in Brussels. Every national safer Internet centre (SIC) implements awareness and educational campaigns, runs a helpline, and works with youth to create a better internet.

Children, parents, teachers, social workers, lawmakers, policymakers and simply anyone is invited on Safer Internet Day to do their part in creating a better online community. It is extremely inspiring that every year more and more celebrities from sports stars and vloggers to pop stars and artists get involved in acknowledging this day.

Anyone willing to support SID is more than welcome to contact the coordination team at sid-helpdesk@eun.org

ISOC-Georgia that leads the work on building the free and trustworthy Internet as well as safer mobile technologies among children and young people in the country, has prepared a detailed Safer Internet Day programme for 2019. A half-day conference celebrating Safer Internet Day is scheduled. Several Georgian governmental, educational, and NGO organisations are going to set similar events. The Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia officially supports the Safer Internet Day.
