On 12 December 2025, the magnificent Christmas tree in the heart of Georgia's capital was illuminated. This delightful ceremony took place at First Republic Square in Tbilisi. At the same time, festive lights adorned various streets, casting a warm and enchanting glow across the city. This year, First Republic Square will come alive as a dynamic centre for New Year celebrations, featuring a captivating array of events running from 12 December 2025 to 7 January 2026.
Surrounding the grand tree, a bustling Christmas Market was established, where children will be warmly welcomed each day by Santa, the Georgian Snow Granddad, and a host of beloved fairytale and movie characters. Even the Grinch has joined the festivities, as the hospitable Georgian crowd is eager to help him embrace the spirit of Christmas. The festive programme features an exciting variety of concerts, performances, exhibitions, and screenings of beloved Christmas films, all designed to bring joy to visitors of every age.
Children at the Christmas Market can enjoy an ice rink, an amusement park, and a charming Christmas train. As the vibrant and colourful nights of December and January unfold, adult visitors can savour mulled wine, hot chocolate, or freshly brewed coffee, accompanied by barbecued pork chops and chestnuts roasted over an open flame. An enticing selection of Georgian and international pastries and dishes will also await them, ensuring a truly magical festive experience.
