The Americans honour Independence Day on the Fourth of July. It is a federal holiday, celebrated nationwide in the United States.
For the citizens, the anniversary of the publication of the declaration of independence from Great Britain in 1776 is a very special day, which represents the birth of the United States of America as an independent nation.
The colours in fireworks are created by the use of metal salts such as strontium carbonate (red fireworks), calcium chloride (orange fireworks), sodium nitrate (yellow fireworks), barium chloride (green fireworks), and copper chloride (blue fireworks).
The Fourth of July and fireworks have become an unbreakable tradition that has started on 4th July 1777 in Philadelphia. While the country was still in the midst of the Revolutionary War against Britain, the very first Independence Day celebration was commemorated with the fireworks.
That day the Americans have gathered for the first time to watch the evening sky illuminated in an attempt to raise spirits of the citizens. Ever since some patriotic displays and family events are organised throughout the United States of America.
