Georgian-British singer and songwriter announced a charity live-stream performance on her Youtube channel.
"Through these strange times, I've been trying to think about what else I can do to be of some use, and I've decided to team up with the Georgia Red Cross Society who have been very impressive with the work that they've done on the ground in Georgia during the COVID-19 crisis. We're gonna be raising awareness for them by doing a YouTube live-stream concert on Saturday the 27th of June", the musician told her followers in a video message released via Twitter and Facebook.
The Georgia Red Cross Society (GRCS) that owns 39 offices throughout the country and consists of about 9,000 well-trained and accordingly equipped volunteers, is the major humanitarian organisation in Georgia. Local people who cannot cope with the social problems on their own make a request through the GRCS hotline (0 800 000 018) and get support.
Since the COVID-19 outbreak, the GRCS has been providing socially vulnerable groups of people with food and other daily essentials. The Society has already delivered up to 80,000 parcels and keeps its activity on. Among others, the beneficiaries include more than 50,000 elderly people who live alone and have no close relatives to support them.
During the live-stream concert which starts at 22:00, the donation will be possible by calling on telephone number 16222 in Georgia, and from the GRCS web page internationally. The Georgia Red Cross Society will use the received amount for further support of those in need.
