Happy Safer Inet Day!

Safer Internet Day is celebrated annually in February.

This special day aims to promote the safe, responsible, and positive use of digital technology among children and young people. Thousands of centres around the world participate in this event, which is coordinated by the joint Insafe/INHOPE network, with support from the European Commission and national Safer Internet Centres across Europe.

More than 100 Safer Internet Day Committees collaborate closely with the Safer Internet Day Coordination Team based in Brussels. Each national Safer Internet Centre (SIC) implements awareness and educational campaigns, operates a helpline, and engages with youth to foster a better internet.

On Safer Internet Day, children, parents, teachers, social workers, lawmakers, policymakers, and anyone interested can contribute to creating a better online community. It is truly inspiring to see more and more celebrities each year – including sports stars, vloggers, pop artists, and other entertainers – getting involved to acknowledge this important day.

Anyone interested in supporting Safer Internet Day is welcome to contact the coordination team at sid-helpdesk@eun.org.

In Georgia, ISOC-Georgia leads the initiative to establish a free and trustworthy internet while promoting safer mobile technologies for children and young people. They have prepared a detailed program for Safer Internet Day, which includes a half-day conference to celebrate the event. Several governmental, educational, and NGO organisations in Georgia are planning similar activities, and the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgiaofficially supports Safer Internet Day.
