On 18 May 2018, Professor Maia Nadare founded a new think tank, inspired by the Georgian Association for American Studies and the Institute of American Studies at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, where she first got involved in American Studies in the early 2000s. Professor Vasil Kacharava, Head of the Institute of American Studies at Tbilisi State University and President of the Georgian Association for American Studies, originally proposed the initiative.
The newly established institution aims to continue the legacy of the TSU Institute of American Studies while expanding its focus to include British and Georgian Studies. The founding group will finalise organisational matters during the summer months. A demo version of the think tank's website will launch in mid-August, and the new institute expects to operate at full capacity from January 2020. In the meantime, Professor Maia Nadare, the founder and CEO, will assemble the research team, which will begin activities in June 2018.
