Professor Maia Nadareishvili established the American and British Studies Institute at Grigol Robakidze University on 20 June 2018. The founding board: President of Grigol Robakidze University, Professor Mamuka Tavkhelidze; Dean of School of Humanities and Social Studies, Professor Liana Koroshinadze; Head of Journalism and Mass Communication Program, Associate Professor Khatuna Kacharava; Doctor of International Journalism, Associate Professor Maia Nadareishvili, held the meeting. The founding director Maia Nadareishvili offered to name the new institution 'Ambris', according to the purpose of the research centre – Am-erican and Bri-tish S-tudies.
On 23 June 2018, the new research centre held its presentation at the Grigol Robakidze University conference hall. The President of Grigol Robakidze University, Professor Mamuka Tavkhelidze, opened the meeting by introducing the host of the event and the founding director of the American and British Studies Institute, Professor Maia Nadareishvili, to the audience.
The founding director discussed the reasons behind the creation of Ambris Institute, its main goals and prospects for the future. The newly established centre is keen to support research projects which span several subject areas in American and British studies. Professor Nadareishvili encouraged all students interested in interdisciplinary research programmes to participate in the projects organised or monitored by Ambris Institute. She also welcomed high school pupils already interested in academic research in a relevant subject area. The new institute will conduct scientific research on experience, modern achievements, and prospects in the political, historical, social, and cultural life of the United States and the United Kingdom. The institute plans to launch a scientific journal Ambris.
The President of the Georgian Association for American Studies, Head of the Institute of American Studies at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Professor Vasil Kacharava; Doctor of Philosophy, Academician, Professor Rezo Balanchivadze; Head of Journalism and Mass Communication programme at Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Professor Khatuna Kacharava; Also, professors, postgraduate and doctoral students of Grigol Robakidze University as well as honorary guests from other universities and colleges of Tbilisi, Georgia, attended the founding ceremony of the American and British Studies Institute.
