GACS: Autumn session 2021

7 October 2021: A meeting of the science advisory board of the Georgian Academy of Criminology was held at the Georgian National Academy of Sciences. This year, the autumn session is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Crime Research and Prediction Centre.

President of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, Academician George Kvesitadze who is an Honorary Academician of the Georgian Academy of Criminology, opened the autumn session with a welcome speech.

President of the Georgian Academy of Criminology, Professor Malkhaz Badzagua chaired the meeting.

The session attendees observed a minute's silence to honour their late colleague, Professor George "Gogi" Glonti.

Academician George Kvesitadze awarded the GACS membership diplomas to Dr Shengeli Pitskhelauri, Dr Eka Beselia, Dr Gimzer Alania, and Dr Nani Lomaia. The academicians and members of the Georgian Academy of Criminology were awarded the badges and membership cards of the Academy.

Professor Malkhaz Badzagua introduced the newly elected members of the GACS, Dr Tedo Japaridze and Dr George Khatidze.

As part of the 20-year anniversary celebrations of the Crime Research and Prediction Centre, Professor Malkhaz Badzagua proposed to hold an international anniversary conference, publish a booklet about the activities of the Centre, and prepare the special issue of the journal Criminologist.

The member of the Academy, Dr Tamar Chikviladze introduced the Council to the changes in the bylaws of the Georgian Academy of Criminology.

Academicians of the Georgian Academy of Criminology such as Roman Shengelia, Eka Beselia, Mindia Ugrekhelidze, Tedo Japaridze, Colonel Manana Khvedelidze, and Colonel Gela Khutsishvili commented on the said topics and expressed their points of view.
