On 20 June 2018, Professor Maia Nadare proposed establishing an American and British Studies Institute at Grigol Robakidze University. The new Institute aims to conduct theoretical and empirical research in American and British studies.

The founding board consists of Professor Mamuka Tavkhelidze, President of Grigol Robakidze University; Professor Liana Koroshinadze, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Studies; Associate Professor Khatuna Kacharava, Head of the Journalism and Mass Communication Programme; and Associate Professor Maia Nadare, Doctor of International Journalism. They convened an initial meeting to discuss the institute's establishment.

During this meeting, President Mamuka Tavkhelidze appointed Maia Nadare as the Founding Director of the new institute, which will serve as a subsidiary institution for her think tank. She enthusiastically accepted the position and proposed potential team members for the institute. Professor Nadare also outlined the goals and research areas, emphasising the importance of involving students in research activities. The founding board approved her proposals.

On behalf of Grigol Robakidze University, President Mamuka Tavkhelidze agreed to provide material, financial, and intellectual support for the American and British Studies Institute.

To avoid confusion with the parent institute she founded a month earlier, Professor Maia Nadare proposed the nickname "Ambris" (AMerican + BRItish + Studies) for the new institute. The founding board accepted this suggestion.
