Katie Melua concert

Tonight the Georgian-British singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Katie Melua shared her birthday evening with the most devoted fans of hers when she performed in Tbilisi, Georgia. Several thousands of Georgians of all age groups filled the entire Europe Square, Metekhi bridge, and nearby area to attend the performance of Katie and her band: Zurab Melua (guitarist), Joe Yoshida (drummer), Tim Harris (bassist), and Mark Edwards (pianist).

In 2006 Katie Melua was Europe's highest selling European female artist, and the United Kingdom's best-selling female artist. She is noted for her countless projects, including charity. Hence, the president of Georgia has awarded Katie Melua with the Medal of Honour in December 2016.

Tonight Katie Melua was made an honorary citizen of Tbilisi, and Mayor Kakha Kaladze gave her the city key.

In 2017 Katie Melua worked with the Gori Women’s Choir. Tonight Teona Tsiramua, the conductor of the Chamber Ensemble, widened the area of her experience while conducting the choir and the Georgian audience to sing Happy Birthday to their beloved musician.

The beautiful night ended with the fireworks in honour of the birthday girl who made an amazing present to her home town and fellow Georgians.

The fireworks lasted for several minutes and it could be heard and seen far from the city centre. There was not a single person who did not know whose birthday the Georgians celebrated on the 16th of September.
