14th April is Mother Language Day in the Republic of Georgia. Regardless of their first language, all citizens of this east European country annually celebrate the day when the nation and its government have united against the Soviet attempt to deprive the state status of Georgian – one of the oldest living languages, still in use almost unchanged since ancient times.

On 22 April, US Embassy in Tbilisi will plant 50 trees in the Varketili area. The staff members call for volunteers to join them in celebrating Earth Day.
More than 193 countries commemorate the day. Various events annually demonstrate support for environmental protection.
There are a lot of basic, although significant, things that can protect the planet on which we live: plant a tree, reduce, reuse, recycle, shop wisely (e.g. buy reusable bags and refillable water bottles), walk or ride a bike rather than drive a car, volunteer for cleaning up in our community, use long-lasting light bulbs, etc.

On 10th April the star to Zurab Zhvania, the late PM of Georgia, was opened in Strasbourg, France.

The date was set but nothing has happened. As many as 13 different protest groups descended on Whitehall on the day Britain was supposed to exit the EU, making 29th March a significant step towards regaining the country’s independence.

St Patrick manages to unite millions of people all over the world for celebrations. Even those who hardly have any faith in him, put their effort and time into the event. People celebrate the day with parades, wearing of the green, and drinking Guinness or any type of booze available.
