The Institute named

On 14 July 2018, the Founder and CEO of a research organisation, Professor Maia Nadareishvili, officially named her almost 2-month-old entity BRAMS Institute.

Since there are plenty of institutes for American Studies, the Founder decided to create a name that could stand out from others and be brief and easy to remember. The new institute will deliver theoretical and empirical research in British, American, and Georgian (Kartvelian) studies. Hence, the name BRAMS, an abbreviation of the three countries – BRitain, AMerica, Sakartvelo (In Georgian: Georgia), for which the institute will provide interdisciplinary research.

The name was decided after two months since Professor Vasil Kacharava, President of the Georgian Association for American Studies and Head of the Institute of American Studies at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, inspired and encouraged Professor Nadareishvili to found a new institute for American Studies.

BRAMS Institute will start publishing an international, peer-reviewed (refereed) academic journal BRAMS, which will address applied and theoretical issues.

Professor Jeremy J. Ramsden from the University of Buckingham, England, approved the choice of Professor Maia Nadareishvili. The ceremony of giving the name to her new institute was held at Begeli restaurant on 14 July 2018, jointly commemorating the 157th anniversary of Vazha-Pshavela's birthday.
