TSU Doctoral Student Colloquium

The four Doctoral students of the Institute of American Studies at Tbilisi State University gave combined colloquia this noon:

  • An American post-minimalist music-theatre work on the examples of Philip Glass's chamber opera "Hydrogen Jukebox" (1990) and Steve Reich's video-opera "Three Tales" (2002), by Mariam Meparishvili (Supervisors – Marina Kavtaradze, Elene Medzmariashvili)
  • A great clash – Hamilton vs Jefferson, by George Labadze (Supervisors – Vasil Kacharava, Mikheil Barnovi)
  • American national identity and its latest challenges, by George Tatarashvili (Supervisor – Anastasia Zakariadze)
  • "Desire Under the Elms" as a modern interpretation of ancient Greek tragedy, Ketevan Khokhiashvili (Supervisor – Teimuraz Kobakhidze, Irakli Tskhvediani)

Professor Elene Medzmariashvili from the Institute of American Studies at Tbilisi State University, Professor Katie from the International Black Sea University, the head of journalism, mass communication and public relation programme at Grigol Robakidze University, Professor Diana Tkebuchava, Professor Marina Kavtaradze and Associate Professor Gvantsa Ghvinjilia from Tbilisi State Conservatoire, Professor Anastasia Zakariadze from Tbilisi State University, Director of BRAMS Institute, Professor Maia Nadareishvili, Professor Irakli Tskhvediani from Kutaisi State University, and IAS Librarian Manana Kandelaki attended the doctoral student colloquia.
