Phenomenal Ronnie O’Sullivan became the first player to compile 1000th century breaks in Sunday’s final. The same night the English five-time world champion won the Players Championship in Preston over Australian Neil Robertson.

As usually, the snooker audience was impressed with his spectacular play. O'Sullivan teased the fans by stopping his approach while on 99 before he potted the red left-handed.

Soon after midnight, Ronnie O’Sullivan tweeted on his page: “Delighted to win the Players Championship tonight in Preston and buzzing to have made my 1,000th century in the final frame. Thanks to all my fans for the support. Hard luck to my fellow Aussie, a class act and an even better human”.

With five World Championships, seven UK Championships and seven Masters titles, Ronnie O’Sullivan rockets to snooker stardom to the level that is questionable if the feat ever is repeated.

Jason Ferguson, World Snooker Chairman, said about O’Sullivan that ‘he’s just a genius’. Now the fans wonder whether the champion is finally nominated for SPOTY later this year, or not. Expectations seem tense as O’Sullivan did not make the shortlist for BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
