On 10th April the star to Zurab Zhvania, the late PM of Georgia, was opened in Strasbourg, France.
Prime Minister of Georgia, Mamuka Bakhtadze unveiled the star, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Georgia's accession to the Council of Europe, in presence of Zurab Zhvania’s widow, Nino Kadagidze-Zhvania, daughter Lisa, 24, and son Busa, 22.
Twenty years ago, on 27th January 1999, Zurab Zhvania made his most famous statement while delivering a speech in front of the Council of Europe: „მე ვარ ქართველი და, მაშასადამე, ვარ ევროპელი. I am Georgian and therefore, I am European”. These words are engraved inside the star. The commemorative star plaque is placed in front of the building of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
